The Runway Influence
Grown up, paired down, mysterious. Minimalism roars back in
ways that are anything but boring. Traditional styles soar to new
heights with touches of sophistication, like metallic details and
leather accents. The purity of form, meet function in a dazzling
take on the classics. Pure polish.
Opulent, highly textured fabrics are intriguingly unusual and inviting.
Strapless velvet cocktail numbers at Badgley Mischka to sporty-techno
PVC at Marni with a more somber palette play against each other combine
for an interesting manipulation of shapes. When anxious hordes pressed
backstage for an intellectual coda from the Prada prophesy, she gave
them a friendly Italian laugh. "Eh! The only thing I could think of was
to work on color and materials," she shrugged. "Something simple but
strange." Simple but strange, tres chic.
The interplay of matte and shine is everywhere, casting a satin glow on
everything from quilted bags to stretch satin belts cinching wool double
knits. Iridescent silks strolled down the runway at Luca Luca, while
light-catching sequins sparkled at Elie Saab. Abundant plumage shimmered
at Fendi, evoking a sexy, dreamy mood.
Color Connection
Polished and mysterious describe the intriguingly chic, yet inviting
color palette for fall. Traditional neutral shades expected for autumn
have been replaced this season with nuanced hues, offering more
opportunity for creativity with interesting and unexpected color
combinations.
The Look

On lids, matte metals and deep lustrous shades.
- Cheeks:
Dazzling and sleek in shades in peaches and soft pinks.
