Approximately 2.5 million, a third of Darfur's population, have been driven from their homes. Displaced children and families have insufficient access to food, shelter, clean water and clothing. Save the Children’s programs in Sudan address hunger relief, emergency health care, water and sanitation programs, protection, and shelter. The programs assist displaced persons, returnees, and war-affected and other vulnerable groups – mainly children and women – through basic services that result in food security, self-sufficiency and independency from AIDS and malaria.
